Start a temporary chat

Open in Agentum

Purpose

Neda wants to try a rough idea for a customer without it showing up in her chat list or shaping what Agentum remembers about her. Start a temporary chat: it stays out of your history and is deleted for you after 30 days.

Before you start

Temporary chat is available on a new chat in Chat mode. It is not offered in Work mode, in a project, or with a custom agent.

Steps

  1. Open a new chat. At the top right, select the dashed chat bubble with a check mark, "Turn on temporary chat". The page title changes to "Temporary chat".
  2. Choose how personal the chat is. A pill next to the button shows the current choice. Select it and pick one:
    • "Personalized": "This chat can reference memory, plugins, and custom instructions".
    • "Unpersonalized": "This chat will ignore memory, plugins, and custom instructions".
  3. Write your first message as usual. Once you send it, the choice is locked and a "Temporary" badge appears at the top of the chat. Point at the badge to see the date the chat will be deleted.
  4. To go back to a normal chat before you send anything, select "Turn off temporary chat". Starting a new chat from the sidebar also opens a normal chat.

Expected result

The chat does not appear in "Recents", "Chats" or search, and Agentum does not save anything from it to memory. After 30 days it is deleted. A temporary chat cannot be shared or moved to a project; you can still rename it or delete it yourself at any time.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
There is no temporary chat button It appears only on a new chat in Chat mode, outside projects and custom agents. Switch from Work to Chat, or open a new chat from the sidebar.
I cannot find a temporary chat later This is expected: a temporary chat is not listed anywhere. If it is still open, do not close it. It is deleted after 30 days.
"Share" and "Move to project" are missing They are not offered for temporary chats.
I want memory and plugins to stay out of it Choose "Unpersonalized" before you send the first message.
