Use the built-in platform tools

Purpose

Parisa asks the agent for a one-page PDF of the weekly brief and a chart of sales by month, and both just appear. Nothing was connected first: Agentum includes a set of built-in tools, grouped by what they do, and they are on from the start. Look at the groups, switch a whole group or single tools off, and decide which of them your agents may use.

Before you start

Sign in and select your workspace. Platform tools need no connection, address or key. Your choices apply to the workspace you have selected.

Steps

  1. Open "Plugins" in the sidebar and choose the "Platform tools" filter, or search for a group by name. Each row shows "Enabled" or "Disabled" instead of "Connected".
  2. The groups are:
    • "Files and documents": create downloadable PDF, Markdown and Office files.
    • "Pages": create Pages and edit their content in the dedicated conversation.
    • "Sites": create sites and manage their files, content and settings.
    • "Artifacts": create and revise reusable documents, code and interactive previews.
    • "Charts": draw charts from available data.
    • "Code execution": analyze files and compute results with Python.
    • "Maps": search places and get directions on a map of Iran.
    • "Images": generate images from your instructions.
    • "Web": search and read information on the web.
    • "Files": read, write and search accessible workspace files.
    • "Knowledge": search the knowledge bases available in the conversation.
  3. Select a group to open its page. "Try it" offers two example requests, and "Try in chat" opens a new chat with the first one typed in the message box. "Information" shows the category and the group's tools. Under the page, a note says that these tools are enabled by default and need no connection, and that your choices control agent access in this workspace and existing outputs are kept.
  4. To turn a whole group off, open "More actions for [name]" on its page (or "Manage [name]" on its row) and choose "Disable". A group that is off shows "Enable" on its page; select it to turn the group back on.
  5. To choose single tools, choose "Manage tools" in the same menu, or select the list button next to "Tools" ("View [name] tool details"). In the window "[name] tools", the switch "Allow [name]" turns the whole group on or off, and each tool has its own switch. The tool switches are locked while the group is off. Each change is saved right away.
  6. The default agent follows these choices (they are also listed in Settings, "Plugins", see "Plugins in Settings"). For a custom agent, switch the group on in the agent's "Plugins" section (see "Choose the plugin tools an agent can use"); that section does not currently control every built-in tool, and a restriction you set here also applies to the custom agents you run, so use Settings, "Plugins" to restrict a platform tool. The bots you connect for your customers, and Telegram automation, never use platform tools.

Expected result

An enabled group is available to the default agent in your workspace, and to each custom agent that has it switched on. A disabled group, or a tool you switched off, is not offered to the agent in new runs. Files, Pages, Sites and other outputs the agent already made are kept.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
The agent says it cannot create a file, a chart or a web search Open the group and check that it shows "Enabled" and that the tool you need is switched on. For a custom agent, also switch the group on in its "Plugins" section (charts, document creation, code execution and knowledge search are not controlled there).
The tool switches cannot be changed The group is off. Select "Enable" first.
A custom agent does not offer a group Switch the group on in the agent's "Plugins" section and save the agent.
A group does not appear in the list Clear the search and choose "All" or "Platform tools".
