Create a custom agent

Purpose

Neda keeps retyping the same warranty and delivery answers, and Kian would like to give her a helper that already knows the shop's rules. Create an agent with its own name, instructions, model and tools.

Before you start

Your plan must include custom agents and you need permission to manage agents in the workspace. You also need at least one available text model. Plans have a limit on how many agents a workspace can hold.

Steps

  1. Open "Agents" and select "New". If you have no agents yet, select "Create agent". The editor opens with a list under "Configure agent" on the left and a live preview chat of the unsaved agent on the right.
  2. Select the picture at the top, or "Identity". Fill in:
    • "Name" (required, up to 80 characters).
    • "Description" (up to 500 characters), a short public summary.
    • The agent image: select it to upload a PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF up to 1 MB. "Remove agent image" clears it.
    • "Creator website" (optional, a valid web address, up to 500 characters), shown as a link on the agent's card.
    • "Conversation starters": "Add starter" up to 4, each up to 160 characters.
    • "Capabilities", separated by commas (up to 12, each up to 100 characters).
    • "Category", or "Uncategorized".
    • "Publish in Explore agents" to let other people find and use the agent. Leave it off to keep the agent within your workspace.
  3. Go back with "Agent settings", open "Instructions" and write the "Agent instructions". They are required and can be up to 12,000 characters.
  4. Open "Model". Choose the primary model and, if the model supports it, a reasoning effort. See "Edit an agent" for the other model settings.
  5. Optional: add tools in "Plugins", instructions bundles in "Skills", and set memory, guardrails, channels and limits from the other sections. Each has its own article.
  6. Try the agent in the preview on the right, then select "Save".

Expected result

The agent is saved and a chat with it opens. It now appears under "My agents" in "Agents".

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
"Save" is disabled Enter a "Name", choose an available primary model, and fix any error shown in "Structured output".
Saving fails with an error under the header Read the message. Common causes: empty "Agent instructions", a plan without custom agents, the workspace agent limit, or a missing permission to manage agents.
"Icon must be smaller than 1 MB." Choose a smaller PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF image.
"No enabled LLM models are available." No text model is enabled for you. Ask a workspace administrator.
The "Channels" section says to save first Save the agent once, then connect a bot (see "Connect an agent to a Telegram or Bale bot").
