Preview a site and request targeted edits

Purpose

Parisa wants the banner on her catalog page a little bigger, but describing "the third box from the top" is clumsy. Watch your site as it is built, open or copy its address, and point at the part of the page you mean to ask for a change there.

Before you start

Create a site first (see Create and manage a site). The preview shows content once your agent has built some pages.

Steps

  1. Open the preview in one of two ways: from Sites, open the site's options and choose Live preview, or from inside the site's chat select Preview site at the top.
  2. The preview page shows Private live preview under the site name. It updates by itself when your agent finishes an edit. Select Refresh preview to reload it yourself.
  3. Select Visit site to open the site in a new tab. Select Copy site link to copy its address; the button then reads Copied.
  4. Select Site chat to open the chat panel next to the preview. Type your request there.
  5. To point at something, select Select an element (at the bottom of the preview or in the chat panel header), then click the part of the page you mean. The chat panel opens with a Selected card showing it, and your next message is sent with that part as context.
  6. To stop picking, select Cancel selection or press Esc. To drop a picked element, select Remove selected element.
  7. Select Back to site chat to return to the full chat. On a phone, the chat panel covers the preview; close it with Close chat.

Expected result

The preview shows your current site and refreshes as edits finish. Copying the link does not publish the site or give anyone else access. The Visit site page shows only the site, without the editing controls.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
Loading preview… stays on screen If loading fails and Try again appears, select it. Otherwise use Refresh preview once it becomes available. A site your agent has not built yet can look empty.
Could not load the preview. Refresh to try again. Select Refresh preview. If it keeps failing, make sure you are still signed in to the right workspace.
Could not copy the link. You can copy the address from your browser. Select Visit site, then copy the address from the new tab's address bar.
I cannot select an element The button is turned off until the preview has loaded.
