Connect a plugin
Open in AgentumPurpose
Until Kian connects the inventory plugin, nobody on the team can ask a question about stock. Connect a plugin so your agents can use its tools, and disconnect or delete it later when you no longer need it.
Before you start
You need permission to use plugins in the workspace. Workspace rules can restrict which plugins are allowed.
Steps
- Open "Plugins" and open the plugin you want (see "Browse plugins and see what they offer").
- Select "Connect". A window titled "Connect [name] to Agentum" explains the connection: you choose whether to connect, the connection details are stored encrypted, and only the context needed to run an authorized tool is shared with the provider.
- Select "Continue with [name]". For a plugin that signs you in (OAuth 2.1), you are sent to the provider to approve access and then return to Agentum. For the other methods (no authentication, API key, bearer token) the connection is made right away.
- When the page shows "Try in chat" and the "Tools" list fills in, the plugin is connected. "Try in chat" opens a new chat; when the plugin lists capabilities, the first one is already typed in the message box. Send it, or ask for another task that needs this plugin; the button does not select the plugin automatically. Then give your agent access: for the default agent, manage access in Settings, "Plugins" (see "Plugin tools"); for a custom agent, enable the plugin in its "Plugins" section (see "Choose the plugin tools an agent can use").
- To disconnect, open "More actions for [name]" on the plugin page and choose "Disconnect", or select "Manage [name]" on the plugin's row in the list ("Manage connection" in "Actions for [name]" for a plugin you added). In the window "[name] is connected", select "Disconnect [name]". The window also shows the plugin, the time connected, the endpoint and the authentication method.
- If you added the plugin yourself and have permission to manage plugins, you can delete it: on the plugin page "Delete plugin" is in "More actions for [name]" while it is connected, or in "Plugin actions" (the three dots next to "Connect") while it is not; on the list it is in the row menu "Actions for [name]". Confirm "Delete [name]?" with "Delete plugin". This removes the plugin and its connections from the workspace and cannot be undone.
Expected result
The plugin shows as connected, is marked "Connected" in the plugins list and appears under the "Connected" filter. After a disconnect, its tools are no longer available in new agent runs. You can connect it again any time.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The connection fails or is rejected | Read the error in the window and try again. The provider or a workspace rule may not allow it. |
| The provider sign-in does not finish | Return to the plugin page and select "Connect" again. |
| "Delete plugin" is missing | Only the person who added a plugin can delete it, and deleting also needs permission to manage plugins. A visible "Delete plugin" can still be rejected by workspace permissions. |
| The plugin is connected but an agent ignores it | Connecting does not give every agent access. For the default agent, manage access in Settings, "Plugins" (see "Plugin tools"). For a custom agent, enable the plugin in its "Plugins" section. |
