Location
Purpose
When Mina asks "what is the weather?" or "find a pizza place", she does not want to name her city every time. Agentum can use where you are as the default place for weather, nearby places, delivery and routes. A place you name in your message always wins.
Before you start
The Location group is part of Personalization. The choices apply to your own seat. Precise location needs a browser that can read your device location, and your device location must be turned on.
Steps
- Open Settings, then "Personalization", and find "Location".
- "Use my approximate location" is on by default. Agentum guesses your city from your internet connection. The guess can be wrong, for example on a VPN or a mobile network. Turn it off if you do not want it.
- Type your city under "My city" to use it instead of the guess. Clear the field to go back to the guess.
- Turn on "Use precise location" to send your device location with your messages, so results such as nearby restaurants are close to you. Your browser asks for permission; if you do not allow it, the switch stays off and a hint tells you how to allow location for this site in the browser settings.
- When a request needs your exact position, the agent shows a card in place of the message box with "Share my location" and "Not now". "Share my location" asks your browser and sends the position with your next message. Tick "Use precise location from now on" on the card to turn the setting on at the same time. "Not now" lets the agent continue with your city.
Expected result
Each switch is saved at once; the city is saved when you leave the field. Answers that need a place use your precise location, then your city, then the approximate guess, in that order.
A precise location is sent only with the message it belongs to and only to answer it. It is never saved in your settings or in your messages, and it is not read or sent in Unpersonalized temporary chats. When a tool needs it, for example to find nearby restaurants, the coordinates are part of that chat's tool calls, like an address you would type yourself.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Use precise location" turns itself off | Your browser blocked location. Allow location for this site in the browser's site settings, then turn it on again. |
| The agent used the wrong city | Type the right city under "My city", or turn off "Use my approximate location". |
| The agent asks which city | Turn on "Use my approximate location" or type your city. |
| The card says your location could not be read | Turn on location for your device, then try again, or choose "Not now". |
